PAYF Yoga, Saturday 31st August
I’m joining other local yoga teachers for a gorgeous outdoor event near the North Yorks Moors this Saturday, 31st August, from 6pm to 8pm. Between us we’ll be leading 108 sun salutations then enjoying a sunset meditation. It’s Pay As You Feel, raising funds for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice. All are welcome.
Here’s the link for more info – 108 Sun Salutations and Sunset Meditation Event
It’s in Great Broughton and is suitable for all levels, from guru yogis to complete beginners. Even if you’ve never done a sun salutation in your life, you’ll have perfected it by number 108, guaranteed!
All the information is in the event link but really all you need are:
– The directions (see the link)
– Your yoga mat
– Cash for your donation for charity
– The will to treat yourself to a lovely time in a beautiful setting
Come and enjoy some outdoor yoga at the tail end of the summer break. What better way to ease yourself back into the real world?
If you’re wondering ‘Why 108 sun salutations?’ we can look at it two ways. The cosmic way is that 108 is a sacred number in yoga, to with prayer beads, Vedic mathematicians, Upanishads and marma points. Mind Body Flow Yoga explains this all much better than I can.
The less cosmic, but equally valid, way to view this is as a mindful challenge involving a mental and physical workout. One one level, each sun salutation is the same. On another, every one is different, as your mind and body respond to each movement differently within the continuous flow.
The best way to find out what it means for you is to do it though. If you’re in the area, come and join us and discover for yourself what doing 108 sun salutations means for you. One thing is certain – you won’t regret it.
