JOIN VEGGIE RUNNERS AND MIMA FOR A FAB, FUN, FRIENDLY ART RUN
24TH OCTOBER 2015

The Mima Art Run is open to all ages and abilities and participants will have chance to see the art and be the art as they run through some of Middlesbrough’s hidden gems.

REGISTER HERE

Places strictly limited. Book asap for this cheap and VERY cheerful event!
Price: £3 Adult, £2 Child

The 2.5 mile route begins at Mima’s ground floor gallery, with stretches and a warm up within the new Localism exhibition. Moving from there, the course takes in some of Middlesbrough’s best known sights – like Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond’s stunning Temenos sculpture (below) – as well as finding some hidden gems where you can be the art as well as seeing it!

There’ll also be stops along the way to create paint trails, make noise with neon maracas, have a ‘colour fight’ on the iconic Transporter bridge and enjoy a 2-minute silent disco by the famous Bottle of Notes sculpture.

The pace will be friendly and chatty, with frequent stops making this fun Art Run suitable for all ages and abilities. Please ensure you are warmly dressed and wear something you won’t mind getting temporarily covered in washable paint!

The Middlesbrough Art Run is part of Localism, an exhibition and season of events at Mima. It is also part of the Discover Middlesbrough programme.

FAQs
What is Mima?
Mima, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, is one of the UK’s leading galleries for modern and contemporary art and craft.

Is there an age limit to take part in the Mima Art Run?
There is no age limit for the Mima Art Run. The event is open to all ages. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult though.

Is the run open to all abilities?
Yes, the run has been specially designed so anyone can take part. It is a run, so experienced runners will enjoy it. However, the pace will be steady so that we get to enjoy the sights and there will be plenty of stops with fun activities so you can catch your breathe if you need to!

I’ve never been to Mima before. How do I get there?
Follow this link for full transport information –
http://www.visitmima.com/plan-your-visit/getting-here/

Is there somewhere to leave my things while I’m out on the Art Run?
There are lockers at Mima so you can leave but please note that items are left at your own risk.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
No. For safety reasons, we have to know exactly who is running with us on the day. If you can’t make it, please cancel your place and allow someone else to book it.

Is Mima Art Run a race?
It’s not a race, it’ a slow run. If you can’t already run 10 minutes slowly without stopping, try to take some time before the event to build up to this. The pace will be gentle to accommodate everyone and there are stops along the way but it’s a run, not a walk.

Will there be anything for my friends and family to do at Mima while I’m running?
Yes, there’s loads to do at Mima while the Art Run is on! Your friends and family could hang out in the lovely cafe or check out the Mima website for information on exhibitions and family fun at the gallery on the day. Or they could join you on the Art Run…

Remind me how to register again…
Just click the link to book. You won’t regret it 🙂
