We’ve been saying for ages that running is the Best. Thing. Ever. It seems that now millions of other people agree with us. Yippee! According to recent research from Sport England (they do loads of research, you know – check out their latest stats), more than 2 million – 2 million! – people in Britain now run regularly. Of course, Britain is not the world, despite what some politicians would have us believe and there are gazillions more of us around the planet running, getting in fit, sweating, pushing themselves, enjoying the buzz and building communities.
How blimmin’ marvellous then that new running shops are popping up all over the place. As we’ve pointed out before, runners love (like, love, love, love) kit and we’re always going to be happy with new places to buy it. There are so many different kinds of running shoes to choose from. Then there are shorts, tights, socks, headbands, gloves, technical tees, jackets, headlights, fancy laces, hats… The list goes on and on.
Leeds’ runners are especially in luck. We have a new Runners Needs store, that has all of the above and more. It’s a small but perfectly formed space, with well-trained staff to advise on kit and do gait analysis (the person who served us had a degree in sports shoe design; they don’t come much better trained than that!) It also shares its shop floor with Snow + Rock and Cycle Surgery so if you get sick of looking at running gear – as if that could ever happen – there’s plenty of other great sportswear to get excited about.
So, if you’re one of Britain’s 2 million plus runners, get yourself down there. If you mention Veggie Runners, you’ll even get a 10% discount 🙂
